The department has started with M. Tech. programme in Electronics Design & Technology, approved by A.I.C.T.E. since 1997. This course has been designed with an aim to meet the industry requirement in the field of electronics design with an emphasis on latest technology. This course strives to provide career opportunities to the aspiring students of Assam in particular to N.E.R. and rest of the country.

B. E./ B. Tech./ A.M.I.E./ A.M.I.E.T.E. in Electronics/ Electrical/ Instrumentation Engineering or M. Sc. in Electronics/ Instrumentation/ Physics (Electronics as specialization)/ A.M.I.E.T.E. with a minimum of 50% mark in aggregate. G.A.T.E. qualified candidates will get preference.
Admission of students to the M. Tech. programme in Electronics Design & Technology shall be based on the performance in Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering and Tezpur University Entrance Examination.
The bio-electronics division, department of Electronics & Communication Engineering of Tezpur University has introduced a full time 2-year M. Tech. programme in Bioelectronics from August, 2004. This programme has been approved by the University Grants Commission under its Innovative Programmes-Teaching and research in interdisciplinary and emerging areas. The course has also been recognized by the A.I.C.T.E.. The course works at the interface of many leading disciplines such as electronics, bio-medical, neuro-engineering, computing, bio-informatics, bio-sensors etc. and is therefore capable of producing professionals in the fields of medical, military, food, bio-tech and bio-sensor industries. The main aim of this course is to prepare students for carriers in bio-electronics field characterized by leadership and communication skills and a commitment to do work for the advancement of human society.

Bioelectronics is a crossover field, a highly interdisciplinary area, and as such it will appeal to an array of students with various science and engineering backgrounds. Students who have passed or likely to pass B. E./ B. Tech. in Electronics & Communication Engg./ Instrumentation Engg./ Chemical Engg./ Computer Science & Engg./ Electrical Engg./ Biomedical Engg./ Bio Engg./ Neuro Engg./ Genetic Engg./ Biotechnology or M.Sc. in Biotechnology/ Biochemistry/ Chemistry/ Polymer Science/ Physics/ Electronics/ Nano Science & Technology or M.B.B.S with 50% marks in aggregate. GATE qualified candidates will get preference.

The department started the M.Tech. in Semiconductor Technology program in 2024 in line with the objective of India Semiconductor Mission. With Assam being one of the first states in India to have a national semiconductor plant, this program is aimed at producing graduates skilled in the domains of semiconductors including materials, devices and applications.
