The Department of Sociology, Tezpur University organized an international seminar on “Locating neighbourhood in Global South” from 25-26th September 2019. The seminar sought to explore how the spatial, social and historical characteristics of neighbourhoods served to determine the form of the ‘urban’. It focused on the particularities of the neighbourhood and their role in constructing an understanding of the urban. With rapid urbanisation in the country and migration of people into the cities, papers presented in the seminar deliberated on pertinent issues related to urban social life.
