International Women’s Day was celebrated with a multicoloured program by the Department of Sociology, Tezpur University at Napaam MV School on 8th March 2022. A team of teachers which included Prof Deka, Dr Nirmali Goswami, Dr Sarmistha Das, Dr Pamidi Hagjer and Dr Amiya Kr Das, along with students and staff of the department interacted with the students and engaged in activities highlighting women’s social and political rights. The celebration program at the school was presided over by Prof. Robin Deka and Mrs. Himani Deka , ASHA Supervisor, was the chief guest. The program was also attended by the Headmaster and the teachers of Napaam MV School.
The students from the Department of Sociology and the Department of Social Work, Tezpur University came together to celebrate the International Women’s Day on March 08.03.2020. The students had organized a street play to generate awareness on reproductive health of women. A cycle rally was also organized for the same event from the University to Amolapam village. The resource persons were invited to deliver lectures on the issue of reproductive health.
