The Dept of Sociology of Tezpur University organised a two-day Graduate Seminar before the beginning of the International Conference “Locating Northeast India: Human Mobility, Resource Flows, and Spatial Linkages” on 8 and 9 January, 2018 where about 30 research scholars from different Indian Universities participated. Centre for Himalayan Studies, National Centre for Scientific Research (CNRS), Paris sponsored the seminar. The seminar was organised for PhD/MPhil scholars as well as for fresh postdocs pursuing research on the Northeast in a social science discipline. The theme of the keynote lecture was “Knowledge, its variety and the University Systems” and it was delivered by Prof. Hiren Gohain. Prof Mrinal Miri, noted philosopher and academician, was also one of the speakers of this seminar. Distinguished social scientists including Professor Virginius Xaxa (Tezpur University), Professor Bengt Karlsson (Stockholm Univeirsty), Professor Apurba Baruah (North Eastern Hill University) and Dr. Joy Pachuau (Jawaharlal Nehru University) acted as resource persons.
