CiRiC (Citizen’s Rights Collective), Action Aid India and Department of Sociology, Tezpur University collaborated for the programme of the Urban Action School (UAS) which was an advanced course planning several fundamental facets of the ‘Urban’ and was essentially designed for mid and senior level activists, policy advocates, journalists, researchers and all categories of urban policy practitioners. This course was designed to be a space for upgrading knowledge, to reflect upon, share and equip the participants to acquire new skills to function in a better way in their day to day work. UAS attempted to address policy concerns in a bottom up approach to improve the quality of life for the people. 30 participants from all over the country, representing academia, development sector and professionals participated in this workshop. Some of the prominent speakers in the workshop included Prof Prabhat Patnaik (emeritus prof of JNU), Prof Virginias Xaxa of Tezpur University, D. Raghunandan of Delhi Science Forum, Shrawan Kumar Archarya of JNU and Prof Chandan Kumar Sharma.
