Young Researchers Workshop titled “Challenges of Doing Ethnography Today” by the Indian Sociological Society. 

The Dept of Sociology, Tezpur University organised a national level workshop on behalf of Indian Sociological Society on the 26 and 27 of December for doctoral students doing field work or in the process of writing their doctoral theses. Some of the resource personnel included Abha Chauhan, Professor of Sociology, University of Jammu; Biswajit Ghosh, Professor of Sociology, University of Burdwan; Sujata Patel, Professor, University of Hyderabad; Paramjit S. Judge, Professor of Sociology, Guru Nanak Dev University; Satish Sharma, Director, Academic and Director Institute of Conflict Studies and Resolution Strategies, Sanghol (Punjab); Antony Palackal, Associate Professor of Sociology, University of Kerala. The keynote speech was given by Prof N. Jayaram, Former Director, Institute of Social and Economic Change, Bangalore. The Valedictory address was given by presented by Prof. Virginus Xaxa, Deputy Director, TISS Guwahati.
