The Department of Sociology, Tezpur University organised the Seventh Biennial International Conference with the support of ICSSR, New Delhi and Maulana Abul Kalam Azad Institute of Asian Studies, Kolkata as a confluence point for scholars working on Asian & Pacific studies. The theme of the conference was “South Asia and Beyond: Past, Present and Future” and the keynote speaker was Professor Prasenjit Duara, Asia Research Institute, National University of Singapore. Other prominent speakers of the event included Ambassador Rajeev Bhatia (Director-general ICWA, New Delhi), Prof Partha Ghosh (JNU Centre of International Studies) and Prof Shashwati Goswami (Indian Institute of Mass Communication, New Delhi).
