On 19th November 2022, the M.A students of SC 572 Industrial Sociology undertook a field trip to the Noorbari Tea Estate as part of their academic activity. The students were accompanied by course instructor Dr Pamidi Hagjer and two research scholars Priyanka Borah and Lina Basak who assisted the students to engage with the workers of the estate. The objective of the trip was to familiarize the students with problems of labour and industrial forms of relations in the plantations and get an overview understanding of the workplace, healthcare facilities, educational institutions, and managerial interventions in the plantations. The students were divided into groups and each group looked into specific aspects of the tea garden, the working conditions etc.
