Dambarudhar Mohanta obtained a Master degree in Physics from MPC College (Utkal University) in 1994 and qualified UGC/CSIR-NET in 1996. He worked as a JRF in the group of Prof. N C Mishra in the Department of Physics, Utkal University for about 10 months prior to joining the Department of Physics, Tezpur University as a faculty in October 1998. He worked with Prof. A. Choudhury and Prof. S.K. Dolui and obtained his Ph.D. in Physics from Tezpur University in 2004. Presently, he is an Associate Professor in the Department of Physics, Tezpur University. Dr. Mohanta has published over 110 research papers and has supervised 09 doctoral theses till date. Previously, he worked as a DST BOYSCAST fellow in the University of Wisconsin‐Madison during 2007‐ 08, and as an Indo‐US Research fellow in Harvard University during 2012‐13.
His prime research interest includes, optoelectronic response of nanoscale luminescent semiconductors, transition metal dichalcogenides and rare earth oxides with special emphasis on radiation induced aspects. He also works in the area of nano-bio interface phenomena, such as, bio‐photonics, bio-conjugation, and ion channels.
