About

Tezpur University Intellectual Property Rights Cell (TUIPR Cell) was established in 2009 with a vision to develop human resource in the management of Intellectual Property Rights as an integral part of the innovation process and the innovation value chain in the University. Several patent, copyright and industrial design applications have been filed based on the innovations done in Tezpur University. The Cell has been involved in several IPR awareness and implementation programmes in the University Campus and also across the North East region. The Cell is gradually building IPR consciousness in the Region, not only within the institutions but also among different strata in the society. In 2020, the Department of Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT) under the Ministry of Commerce and Industries, Govt. of India has awarded the prestigious IPR Chair to Tezpur University under the Scheme of Pedagogy & Research in IPRs for holistic Education & Academia (SPRIHA). The IPR Chair Professor and various staff recruited under the scheme operate from the IPR Cell. It is noteworthy to mention that a IPR Chair funded by MHRD was awarded to Tezpur University way back in 2010 which worked with an aim to initiate and execute IPR capability development programmes in the North-East Region.
