LW415 HUMAN RIGHTS ISSUES AND LAW
Course Objective:
Provide basic knowledge and understanding of human rights.
Impart basic knowledge on the national legal framework for promotion and protection of human rights in India.
Develop an understanding on the international bill of human rights.
Evaluate the enforcement and implementation mechanisms of human rights in India.
Generate critical awareness of contemporary issues in relation to human rights.
Course Outcomes:
Trace the evolution of human rights.
Contextualise various human rights issues.
Understand the relationship between Fundamental Rights, Constitutional Rights and Human Rights.
Identify the enforcement mechanism of human rights at the national and state level.
Attribute the role of civil society and other non-state actors in the protection of human rights.
Generate ideas for better implementation of human rights laws in India.
LW416: LAWS RELATING TO RIGHT TO INFORMATION
Course Objective:
Conceptualize the need, importance and various dimension of right to information.
Developing insight to right to information regime in India.
Provide application based approach to Right to Information Act.
Appraise on access to information in order to promote transparency and accountability.
Course Outcomes:
Comprehend the nature, scope and application of Right to Information from constitutional and legislative perspective.
Adequate exposure in drafting RTI applications and procedural requirement of RTI Act in obtaining information.
Exemplify the essence of RTI and its application in environment, educational institution and make student a responsive citizen.
Synthesis the concept of ‘rights’ and various ‘reasonable restriction’ under the RTI Act.
able to harmonise conflicting interest to preserve the democratic ideals.
