The Department of Education, Tezpur University was established in the 2014. The department of education is running five programs. One of them is 4-year Integrated B.Ed (BSc/BA) in collaboration with department of English, Mathematics, Chemical Sciences and Physics, which aims at producing prospective teachers with the sound knowledge of content and pedagogy. Second one is MA in Education programme which provides learners wider and more comprehensive understanding of education as a field of knowledge. Third one is Two Year BEd programme which prepares students for work as a teacher in schools. Fourth one is PhD in Education which provides doctorate degree awarded by university which qualifies the holder to teach at the university level in the degree's field, or to work in a specific profession. Fifth one is M.Ed. programme which has recently been started from the Academic Session 2024-25 with intake of 50. The department has been organizing national level seminars, workshops and invited talks of experts regularly.
To prepare professional humane teachers and teacher educators to serve the national school system, teacher education and society as well.
Establishing the department as a Centre of Excellence for Pedagogy, Curriculum and Research.
Developing prospective teacher’s ability to face challenges.
Developing sensitive, competent and professional teachers and teacher educators.
Train the student with hands on experiences on different aspects of education with the help of different labs, visiting schools and community.
