One 20th of November 2024, Chandraprabha Saikiani Centre of Women Studies, Tezpur University in collaboration with the Department of Sociology organised a talk on “Women and Indigenous Knowledge Systems: Social and Scientific Perspectives. 45 number of participants attended the talk.The esteemed speaker Prof. V. Madhurima from the Central University of Tamil Nadu was invited for the session. Prof V. Madhurima being a woman from Science gave the participants a new lens to look at the women with indigenous knowledge from the social and scientific perspectives. Her thought provoking talk on how women being custodians of the indigenous knowledge system had never been acknowledged, and how the revival of the ancient indigenous knowledge was attributed to women is still not talked about in the society. The speaker further pointed out that how the technological industry designed its products for its male community while the female audience was ignored. Prof. V. Madhurima concluded with the need for inclusivity of the women and gender minorities into the scientific community as well.
