n 2nd August, 2023, Dr. Madhurima Goswami and Dr.Ivy Daimary visited Botola village, Sonitpur District for a research work on “Doudinis (priestess) of Assam”. Lt. Gapsuli Bormahalia (doudini) belonged to this village. Dr. Goswami and Dr. Daimary had an important discussion with the village members on the life history of Gapsuli Bormahalia who was the most dynamic doudini of Sonitpur district. The relatives of Gapsuli Bormahalia gave important accounts on her role as doudini. Manju Mahalia, Sanjoy Mahalia and Someswari Bormahalia who are closely related to the doudini gave an insight into the present transformation of Kherai. They gave the reasons behind the discontinuation of ‘Kherai’ in their village.
