A three-day workshop on Basic Computer Literacy and Cyber Security.

Mr. Abhijit Baishya, from the Chandraprabha Saikiani Centre for Women Studies, Tezpur University, was invited as a resource person at the North Eastern Fire Service Academy to conduct a three-day workshop on Basic Computer Literacy and Cyber Security. The workshop aimed to provide participants with foundational knowledge in computer skills and awareness of cyber security practices, essential for navigating the modern digital landscape.

A total of 510 participants attended the workshop, including personnel from various sectors within the fire service. The attendees were trained on topics ranging from basic computer operations to important concepts in cyber security, such as safe internet practices, data protection, and how to identify and mitigate potential cyber threats.

Workshop Highlights:

  • Day 1: Introduction to Basic Computer Literacy, covering fundamental operations such as working with operating systems, word processing, and spreadsheets.
  • Day 2: Hands-on training in internet usage, email management, and cloud services.
  • Day 3: Introduction to Cyber Security, focusing on threats such as phishing, malware, and social engineering, along with best practices for online safety.

Feedback:
Participants expressed high levels of satisfaction with the content and delivery of the workshop. Many appreciated the practical knowledge imparted, which they found essential for improving their operational efficiency and digital security awareness in their respective roles.

Conclusion:
The workshop successfully achieved its objectives of enhancing computer literacy and promoting cyber security awareness among the participants. Mr. Baishya’s expertise and effective teaching methods greatly contributed to the success of the event. The North Eastern Fire Service Academy plans to continue such initiatives to improve the technical skills of its personnel in the future.
