The Chandraprabha Saikiani Centre for Women Studies, Tezpur University, organized a talk on“Financial Literacy: Women’s Prosperity” on 3rd March, 2025, as part of the Financial Prosperity Week celebrations on the occasion of International Women’s Week. The resource person for the session was Professor Subhrangshu Shekhar Sarkar from the Department of Business Administration, Tezpur University.
Professor Sarkar began the session by emphasizing the importance of financial literacy in empowering women and fostering their financial independence. He outlined key objectives such as enhancing financial knowledge among women and enabling them to make informed decisions regarding their finances.
During his discussion, he explained the difference between savings and investment, highlighting how both play a crucial role in securing financial stability. He then elaborated on various financial concepts, including:

The session concluded with Professor Sarkar advising both students and faculty members to maintain a financial portfolio to systematically manage their investments and savings. His talk was highly informative and engaging, equipping participants with essential financial knowledge for ensuring economic security and prosperity.
