A session on Women in Development Paradigm: An Entrepreneurial Initiative was organized in collaboration with Internal Quality Assurance Cell,Tezpur University on 13th March, 2023. The programme was facilitated by Janitri, an organization devoted to funding and investments (WICCI). Dr. Goswami Head,CSCWS and Prof. Kakoti Director,IQAC, both addressed the gathering and spelt out the objectives of the programme. The resource persons were Dr.Rumi Borah, National President (WICCI), Ms. Manmayuri Devi,Co-Founder and Director (Kanoka Village Resort), Dr. Hirak Ranjan Das, Deputy Director,Innovation cell, Royal Global University,Ms. Sabi Baruah,Vice President, Janitri Assam, Ms. Usha Rani Devi, President,Janitri,Assam.

Dr. Rumi Borah deliberated on the importance of creating environment for women entrepreneurs in Assam. She highlighted on the factors that need to be strengthened to initiate entrepreneurship culture in the state. Ms. Manmayuri Devi shared her experiences about the project ‘Kanoka Resort’ that she had dreamt of a decade ago. She mentioned about the real-life journey and experiences of women entrepreneurs in Assam. Dr. Hirak Ranjan Das elaborated on the Government Schemes and Provisions an entrepreneur should be acquainted with for financial support. He also showed a few technological devices innovated by innovation cell for everyday life usage.

Ms. Sabi Baruah,Vice President Janitri Assam stressed on the importance of a digital library or an inclusive knowledge library by the women writers community in Assam.

Ms. Usha Rani Devi, a schoolteacher by profession discussed the role of social organization and its relation with women’s empowerment. Empowerment of women can lead to development of a nation. Women being more industrious, hardworking, and creative will be a credit to the enterprising nature of an individual.

Ms. Naba Sharma, President, Aparajita Mahila Samiti offered the vote of thanks. On behalf of the participants, she requested Janitri organization to help them in providing information and training regarding various skill-oriented programme. She assured village association’s support in organizing programs on women’s empowerment.

Dr. Kasturi Sarmah was felicitated by Tezpur University for her success in Agro business and consultancy services. She is working in the field of women empowerment by supporting select groups of women from different communities.
