World Mental Health Day Celebrated

The Department of Social Work, Tezpur University Celebrated the World Mental Health Day on 10th October 2015 in collaboration with Lokpriya Gopinath Bordoloi Regional Institute of Mental Health, Tezpur. Reflecting the theme of the day - Dignity in Mental Health a mass rally was organized in Tezpur with the participation of individuals from various organizations in and around Tezpur. Students of the department organized a street play to spread awareness on mental health on the occasion.

World Social Work Day Celebrated

The Department of Social Work, Tezpur University Celebrated the World Social Work Day on 17th March with various activities. Reflecting this year's theme - Promoting the Dignity and Worth of Peoples, A blood donation camp was organized in collaboration with Kanakalata Civil Hospital, Tezpur at the Health Centre of Tezpur University. The Registrar of Tezpur University, Dr. Biren Das inaugurated the event. Students, faculty members and non-teaching staff of Tezpur University participated in the blood donation camp. The students of the Department organized street play at different locations inside and outside the university campus to spread themessage on promoting the worth and dignity of people.

Dr B. R. Ambedkar’s 125th Birth Day and Rashtriya Samrasata Divas on 14 April, 2016

Tezpur University’s Department of Social Work in association with the neighbouring Samdhara Gaon Panchayat observed the 125th birth anniversary of Babasaheb Dr Bhimrao Ambedkar, the chief architect of the Constitution of India and a great champion of social justice as Rashtriya Samrasata Day on 14 April, 2016 at the Gaon Panchayat premises in presence of the village people assembled on the occasion. Floral tributes were offered in front of the portrait of Dr Ambedkar by Mrs Shabnam Begum, President of Samdhara Gaon Panchayat, Mr Dinesh Sarma, Secy. of the Panchayat, Prof. S. K. Dutta, Dr Bhim Sarma, Mr Rajesh K of Tezpur University and many others. Prof. S. K. Dutta explained the significance of the Rashtriya Samrasata Day and highlighted on the life and works of Dr Ambedkar. Mr Rajesh K explained about the various schemes to reduce inequality among the citizens. Dr Bhim Sarma and Mr Dinesh Sarma spoke on the contributions of Dr Ambedkar to the Indian political and social fields as well as the theme of Gram Uday Se Bharat Uday. The meeting was attended by a good number of people from the adjacent villages.
