Chandraprabha Saikiani Centre for Women Studies, Tezpur University organized a talk on “Sharing Experiences from the Field: A Research Scholars Initiative” on 9th March 2021 in the Women’s Week 2021.The number of participants was 42.

First of all Heisuding Hei, research scholar, Centre for Women Studies, Tezpur University talked about Women in Peace Keeping, in reference to Naga women in particular and Northeast women in general . He stressed on how each woman can be leader on her own being a mother carrying her baby in her womb to women in various roles. During covid women took part in various roles fighting as the forefront warriors. Though women are deprived under patriarchy they always took up the challenges. He talked about Indo-Naga conflict, and history of the statehood of Nagaland. He talked about women’s participation in statehood movement that the agreement peace accord was mostly done by women. Naga women have been constantly negotiating for peace. Mr.Hei gave a detailed presentation on the various associations like Naga Mothers and Manipuri women doing peace campaigns.

Ruhi Kashyap, research scholar talked on the history of International Women’s Day. She presented that 8th March 1917 started with its concern with labour movement, equal rights of women etc. Ms Kashyap defined work from feminist lens based on feminist theories. Women who work at home are not considered as leaders. Capitalist women are considered as cheap labour. She cited example of Khasi women who have double burden. She concluded by saying that every woman is a leader on their own. We should be more focused on women working in various levels of work.

Sonali Boro,research scholar, gave a presentation on her field work on women’s narratives on Internal Women’s Day. She presented on the responses she received from the questionnaire that she provided in google form. Her questions were based on women’s empowerment, career life, family life, relationship and opinion on International Women’s Day.
