About Biodiversity & Sustainability Club

Tezpur University, located in the northeastern state of Assam, India, is blessed with exceptional biodiversity owing to its diverse geographical features, encompassing plains, hills, and the fertile Brahmaputra River basin. This region stands out for its abundant flora and fauna, positioning it as a significant biodiversity hotspot globally. As we're aware, biodiversity plays a crucial role in maintaining the health and balance of both natural and human ecosystems. It's imperative to safeguard and conserve biodiversity to secure a sustainable future for all life on Earth. Our club is dedicated to involving students in the preservation of biodiversity and the indigenous species on our campus.
The aim and objectives of this club are as follows:
1. To foster awareness and disseminate knowledge about the importance of biodiversity and local environmental issues among students.
2. To cultivate a green mindset among students through innovative, sustainable approaches for biodiversity conservation.
Activities to be carried out in the club:
a) Educational workshops
b) Organizing field trips to nearby parks, sanctuaries, reserves, and botanical gardens.
c) Conducting surveys to document the flora and fauna present on the campus.
d) Implementing community projects focused on activities like cleanliness drives and tree planting initiatives.
e) Engaging the community through outreach activities such as photography contests and art exhibitions, all centered around themes related to biodiversity.
