Department of Physics

WELCOME

Department of Physics has stridden out not only in its post-graduation teaching but also in new frontiers of research since its commencement in January 1998. The department offeres two-year M.Sc. course in Physics along side Integrated M.Sc. and Integrated B.Sc. B.Ed course. It offeres dual specialization for post-graduation which may be selected from Condensed Matter Physics, Nanoscience & Technology, High Energy Physics, Electronics, Photonics, Plasma physics and Astrophysics. The Department inculcates the spirits of research and can boast of some good research work carried out here, the thrust areas being Nanomaterials, Solid State Ionics, Theoretical High Energy Physics, Plasma Physics, Optoelectronics, Microwaves, Astronomy and Astrophysics, Soft matter physics, Material science and Nonlinear dynamics.

    Message from HoD

The primary focus of the department is to train our students with overall development in Physics. The department of physics, Tezpur University recorded consistent improvement in its academic and research both in theoretical and experimental physics. Inclusion of research component in undergraduate curriculum helps to prepare the younger generation to cope up with the emerging scenario in the top level academic and research institution and also industries of national importance. Our distinguish faculty combining academic excellence and experience involved in world class research in the area of condensed matter physics, photonics, high energy and astro-particle physics, neutrino physics, electronics and communication, microwaves, plasma physics, astrophysics, and nanoscience & technology. Faculty members are also actively engaged in individual and/ or collaborative level national and international research projects.

We are currently experiencing one of the toughest times due to the current Covid-19. We must fight against this pandemic and must win. To keep our students in pace with time without losing academic year, our dedicated faculty members are putting enormous effort with online lectures.
