Research overview:
The main focus of our research is to understand the molecular basis of carcinogenesis and prevention in multiple cancer types including breast, skin, and lungs, through intervention of phytochemical. We are primarily involved in understanding mechanistic effect of phytochemical on the signaling molecules involved in tumor progression, metastasis and drug resistance using in vitro and in vivo preclinical cancer models (breast, lung and colon cancer). We are also conducting research on the development of nanocomposite/nanoparticles from biopolymer for delivery of drug/therapeutic agents to the cancer cells. Our laboratory is also involved in identifying and understanding the role of genetic variation in head and neck cancer prevalent in the population of NE region of India and their association with dietary habits.
