M. Tech. in Civil Engineering

The Department of Civil Engineering offers the following undergraduate programme

Degree Offered: M. Tech. in Civil Engineering (Specialization Geotechnical Engineering)

Intake: 09 nos

Eligibility: Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering.

Admission Procedure: Admission of students to the M. Tech. programme in Civil Engineering shall be based on the performance in Tezpur University Entrance Examination (TUEE).

The prospectus and form for applying for M. Tech. Programme is normally available from the Month of February to April every year and either can be downloaded from the University website or can be directly obtained from designated stations as notified in the University website.

Programme Educational Objectives (PEO) of the M. Tech Programme

  1. 1. To produce Civil Engineering post-graduates with a specialization in Civil Engineering to work competently in civil engineering and relevant projects.
  2. 2. To mould the post-graduate civil engineers to undertake safe, economical and sustainable design of civil and other structures.
  3. 3. To broaden and deepen their capabilities in experimental research methods, analysis of data, and drawing relevant conclusions for scholarly writing and presentation.
  4. 4. To engage the post-graduates in lifelong learning for career enhancement and adapt to changing social needs.
  5. 5. To inculcate in the students the sense of ethics, morality, professionalism, creativity, leadership, independent thinking and self-confidence.

Programme Outcomes (PO) of the M. Tech Programme

  1. 1. The post-graduates will be able to apply the knowledge of engineering to understand and analyse individual components related to the relevant specialization of Civil Engineering.
  2. 2. The post-graduates will be able to analyse, design and conduct experiments, interpret and report results of complex Civil Engineering problems as per specifications and standards.
  3. 3. The post-graduates will be able to create, adopt, and apply appropriate techniques, resources, and modern computational tools.
  4. 4. The post-graduates will be capable of undertaking self-employment schemes.
  5. 5. The post-graduates will be able to understand the impact of the professional Civil Engineering solutions in societal and environmental contexts, and demonstrate the knowledge of, and need for sustainable development.
  6. 6. The post-graduates will be able to operate in inter-disciplinary engineering teams with social responsibility and ethical values.
  7. 7. The students will be able to engage themselves in higher studies or life-long learning and keep on updating themselves with technological advances.
