The host invited CODL Director, Prof. Debabrata Das to say a few words. Prof. Das acknowledged and appreciated UGC for directing to conduct gender sensitization programmes in all the departments in the University. He said that as there are many incidences involved with sexual harassment in the Universities, it is mandatory to sensitize people and organizing gender sensitization programme is very important. Prof Rajeev K Doley Director, CID, addressing the gathering said that everyone should be treated equally. God created more than two genders and every gender should be respected. Prof. Doley mentioned about the presence of ICC in the University. He said that if the grievance turns out to be fake then a complaint will go against the accuser. Prof. Doley acknowledged of the prevalent of sexual harassment in different institutions in India so ICC is mandatory in all the institutions.

Dr.Madhurima Goswami started with a question that why gender sensitization programme is important. The statistical report says that women’s condition is very vulnerable.  Delhi is no.1 in the list of crime against women and Assam is next to Delhi. Sensitization programme is not only for students it is also important for the employees of the institutions. Respecting each other is important as Dr. Goswami says that anyone’s sex should not be violated as the trauma can turn anyone down. Law is the main rescue or means to correct. Organizing sensitization programme for one day is not sufficient. Dr. Goswami said that this training should be done right from school time. It is about changing one’s attitude, ideas which leads to such incidents. Dr. Goswami concluded by saying that if all understand what trauma is then surely this problem will come to an end.

At last Dr.Suchibrata Goswami gave a presentation on laws related to sexual harassment of women at workplace. She explained the important terms and circumstances. She explained about what comprises under ‘Sexual Harassment’ in workplace. Dr. Goswami further mentioned about the presence of ICC in the University and how it functions. Before concluding, Dr.Goswami  requested Abhijit Baishya, Professional Assistant, CSCWS to demonstrate the process of lodging the complaints in the campus. After the presentation many queries were put forward by the students regarding the complaint procedure which were responded by the faculty members.
