Chandraprabha Saikiani Centre for Women Studies,Tezpur University organized a talk on, “Women Entrepreneurs:Confronting Future Challenges” on 8th March 2021 on the occasion of International Women’s Day 2021. The number of participants in the programme was 57, including students, research scholars, faculty and staff of the University.

Dr.Madhurima Goswami,Head Centre for Women Studies welcomed all the participants and the speaker,Ms.Nisha Bora (CEO,Elrhino Eco Industries pvt.Ltd,Guwahati). Nisha Bora first of all introduced herself. She started her talk giving an extensive experience of her life of struggles, of how she faced those problem only because she belong to different sex (female). The speaker went on talking about her experiences as a woman entrepreneur in her Industry, Elrhino. Ms.Bora first of took government land on lease and started her work. The speaker herself had to face post-natal depression but could overcome from it. Being a woman, it was difficult for her when she had to stay away from home in the field for her project works. She continued her works though it was not money making. Their industry produces paper from rhino and cow dungs which is a unique way of making paper. She also worked as a social consultant, social researcher and social entrepreneur. They work with forest department and provide the needs of the poor people residing near the forest areas. They work with the community people. She ended up by saying that women have to take up the challenges in different levels to make their dreams successful.

Impact: The participants understood how if women take up entrepreneurship have  to confront many challenges but can achieve success with their hard work, dedication and strong will power.
