With the horizons of knowledge continually expanding and educational methodologies evolving in newer multidimensional ways, the ongoing upgradation of skills among educators, researchers, and academic leaders has become an essential requirement. As professional development is central to sustaining academic excellence and to realizing the transformative vision articulated in the National Education Policy 2020, the Government of India has taken several initiatives such as the Malaviya Mission Teacher Training Centres (MMTTC) to foster structured, sustained, and meaningful professional growth for faculty and academic institutions across the country.
It is within this progressive framework that the Centre for Professional Development & Training (CPDT) was established at Tezpur University with the objective of strengthening capacity building for professionals. Conceived as a dynamic platform for intellectual and professional enrichment, the Centre seeks to empower teachers, technical professionals, and academic administrators to enhance pedagogical effectiveness, deepen research engagement, embrace innovation, and reinforce systems of academic governance.
As part of its mandate, CPDT also undertakes the responsibilities of the Malaviya Mission Teacher Training Centres (MMTTC), contributing to national goals in faculty development and research excellence.
