The Centre for Professional
Development and Training
The Centre for Professional Development and Training (CPDT) was established by Tezpur University vide Office Order No. F.13-1/97(GA-I)/1626 dated 09.08.2025, pursuant to Resolution No. AC.49/2025/1/4.1 dated 28.05.2025 of the Academic Council and approved by the Board of Management vide Resolution No. B.125/2025/3/1.3 dated 23.06.2025. The Centre replaces the erstwhile Teaching–Learning Centre (TLC), expanding its mandate to encompass a broader spectrum of professional development activities across teaching, research, academic administration, and institutional management.
The CPDT has been instituted to strengthen professional competence, academic leadership, and institutional capacity within higher education. Recognizing that teaching, research, and academic administration demand continuous upgradation of knowledge and skills in a rapidly evolving educational landscape, the Centre seeks to provide structured, sustained, and forward-looking professional development opportunities for faculty members, researchers, and academic administrators.
Aligned with national initiatives such as the Malaviya Mission Teacher Training Centre (MMTTC, formerly PMMMNMTT) Scheme and the objectives of the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020, CPDT focuses on capacity building in innovative pedagogy, research advancement, digital learning ecosystems, curriculum design, academic leadership, and quality assurance frameworks. The Centre aims to foster reflective practice, interdisciplinary collaboration, and outcome-based approaches that advance academic excellence and enhance institutional effectiveness.
Situated in Northeast India, where sustained access to professional development opportunities remains comparatively limited, the CPDT aspires to serve as a regional hub for academic empowerment and systemic transformation. Through workshops, faculty development programmes, training initiatives, seminars, and collaborative engagements, the Centre reaffirms Tezpur University's commitment to integrating teaching, research, and service while contributing to regional advancement and national development.
