Welcome to the homepage of Subansiri Women's Hostel. Subansiri Women's Hostel is named after
the river Subansiri, which is a major tributary of the Brahmaputra river. It originates from
Tibet, meandering through Arunachal Pradesh and Assam before flowing into the Bay of Bengal.
The name Subansiri means "River of Gold". This name now has become an integral part of each
of the boarder's identity. The things we learn here, the things we do, the memories we
gather from our stay here, are no less precious than gold. Subansiri Women's Hostel is not
just our home away from home, it's a part of our life, or we can even say, it's a way of our
life.
Subansiri Women’s Hostel was opened on 1st August 2009 and
was officially inaugurated on 31st August 2009 by Sri Pawan Singh Ghatowar.
Known for its passion, integrity, interest and participation in all
the events in the University, Subansiri has shone brightly.
Some of the events unique to our hostel include:
- The annual festival "Perception" where we also welcome the newly
incorporated members of the Subansiri family- our dear freshers.
- Friendship Day is celebrated on 1st sunday of August.
- 5th of September witnesses the Teacher's Day celebration.
- Lighting of candles in memory of the blast victims on 30th of October.
- Valentine's Day is celebrated on 14th of February every year which also coincides with our
caretaker Shivani Mahi's birthday. The day is celebrated with much pomp and gaiety.
- "Bon Voyage" wherein we bid adieu to our dearest seniors.
Apart from the above mentioned events, the list also includes events like Diwali & Holi.
Christmas and Eid are also celebrated depending on the presence of the boarders.
During Ramzan, our Warden Madam sends her wishes and sweets for the girls observing the fast and
special arrangement for their food is also made by the mess.
Similarly during March Past, special nutrient rich food is provided by the mess.
The Mess of the hostel is run by 6 boarders who are selected randomly every month.
