Changing innovation processes and evolution of the relative contributions made by the private and public sectors have emphasized the need for increased and more efficient linkages between technology and innovation. A well-functioning interface between the innovation and technology systems is more necessary than ever to reap economic and social benefits from public and private in-vestments in research, ensure vitality and quality, and improve public understanding and acceptance of the importance of innovation. Academia and industry, for long have been operating in separate domains in our country. Also, industry-academia collaboration, the world over, is extremely limited and has not been harnessed to its full capacity. A productive interface between academia and industry is a critical requirement for the present knowledge economy. There is an urgent need for strengthening systems that are conducive for the industries to feel confident while seeking solutions to their problems with the academic institutions, so that, this can lead to successful technology transfer and commercialization initiatives. Additionally, deepening of industry-academia interaction is expected to enhance the quality of teaching and research in the universities, and production/ process outputs for the industry. Keeping the above in view, this national symposium is planned where
Coinciding with celebration of World IP Day, 10th year of establishment of the TUIPR Cell, and Silver Jubilee Celebration of the University’s establishment, this symposium will be a maiden attempt in this region to bring together top management professional from industries, academicians, researchers & students of diverse fields together to discuss various dimensions of academia-industry partnership today and exchange ideas, practice and experiences on different aspects of industry-academia integration.
Tezpur University Intellectual Property Rights Cell was created in 2009 with a vision to develop human resource in management of Intellectual Property Rights as an integral part of the innovation process and the innovation value chain in the university. Several patent and copyright applications have been filed based on the innovations done in Tezpur University. The Cell has been involved in several IPR awareness and implementation programmes. The Cell is gradually building IPR consciousness in the region, not only within the institutions but also among different strata in the society.
