Broadly
our laboratory is engaged in research in the areas of immunology and immunogenetics. Our
focus is in understanding
the heterogeneity and evolution of immune response in context of human genetics
and migration to identify susceptibility/ risk determinants and possible
targets of immunotherapeutic interventions in various ethnic
populations. Our lab is currently engaged in understanding the regulation
of cytokine networks in malaria, diversity and activation of NK cells, TLR
polymorphisms and inflammasome activation in squamous cell cancers of Head
and Neck region. In S.L.E we are investigating HLA allele associations and
activation of sub populations of immune cells.

The
database provides a centralised repository for human KIR sequences. Killer-cell
Immunoglobulin-like Receptors (KIR) have been shown to be highly polymorphic at
the allelic and haplotypic level. KIRs are members of the immunoglobulin
superfamily (IgSF) formerly called Killer-cell Inhibitory Receptors. They are
composed of two or three Ig-domains, a transmembrane region and cytoplasmic
tail which can in turn be short (activatory) or long (inhibitory). The
Leukocyte Receptor Complex (LRC) which encodes KIR genes has been shown to be
polymorphic, polygenic and complex like the MHC
The
IMGT/HLA Database provides a specialist database for sequences of the human
major histocompatibility complex (HLA) and includes the official sequences for
the WHO Nomenclature Committee for Factors of the HLA System. The IMGT/HLA
Database is part of the international ImMunoGeneTics project
3. The Allele Frequency Net Database
This
site provides one central source, freely available to all, for the storage of
allele frequencies from different polymorphic areas in the HUMAN genome.
4. National Centre for Biotechnology Information
The National Centre22 for Biotechnology Information advances science and health by providing access to biomedical and genomic information
Indian
Immunology Society was formed to facilitate the exchange of
ideas & information amongst scientists working in different research
areas of Immunology
