Dr. Choo Hock Tan (MBBS, PhD) is a Senior Medical Lecturer in Pharmacology from the Faculty of Medicine, University of Malaya.
Choo Hock enjoys passionately his research activities, from collecting samples in the wild to experiments conducted in
the laboratory His research interests span a wide range of topics in toxinology, including molecular and functional
characterisation of venoms, “-omics” of venomous species, and toxins in drug discovery. Integrating venomics and
antivenom pharmacology, his research aims to offer detailed insights into the pathophysiology of envenomation and strategies
to optimise snakebite treatment. Currently, Choo Hock works in close collaboration with local and international researchers;
their findings have been presented in many conferences, scientific meetings and published in numerous academic journals and books.
