This one-week Faculty Development Program (FDP) is aimed for college and University teachers in various disciplines of science and engineering. The approach of teaching has changed to a new paradigm, and at presents it essentially laying emphasis on stimulating inquisitiveness in the process of acquiring and assimilating new scientific knowledge and concepts. The teachers need to be updated with the pedagogy for better teaching-learning experience. Moreover, the exposure to tools like open source courseware, simulation tools, and scientific approaches of planning and execution of experiments will enhance the student's inquisitiveness and understanding of the subjects. Furthermore, interdisciplinary subjects like renewable energy are getting due attention in the science and engineering course curriculum. So teachers need to refresh the knowledge on these subjects for better pedagogical approach.

Renewable Energy refers to the energy extracted from resources which are renewable in nature and cause minimum harm to the environment as compared to the based resources. The increasing energy demand and growing environmental concern has directed the focus towards the renewable energy sector. Because of this emphasis the scenario in renewable energy is changing very fast and there is a need to track these changes with updates in advances in technology in this area. The aim of this Faculty Development Programme (FDP) is to bring the teachers of different engineering, science and allied subjects onto one platform to update with the advances in the renewable energy technology and applications, effective teaching learning practices, integration of ICT in the teaching-learning process.

The course intended to discuss the recent advances on the renewable energy technologies and systems including the basic working principle. The major topic covers in this programme are (i) Technology-enhanced learning environments (ii) Renewable energy technologies (iii) Energy Resource Mapping (iv) Solar Photovoltaic and Thermal Energy (v) Biomass Energy (vi) Wind Energy (vii) Grid connected renewable energy system (viii) Simulation tools etc. The course will also cover the laboratory components of these energy systems and field visit. Experts from the different reputed academic institutes, research laboratories and industries will be invited to deliver the various aspects of the programme. Apart from the invited experts, faculties of Tezpur University having expertise in the different areas related to the programme will also deliver lectures.

The course is open to all the teachers teaching Physics, Chemistry, Mechanical, Electrical, Chemical, Electronics etc. in University and Colleges approved by UGC/AICTE. Maximum number of participants in the programme is 40 and selection is based on first come first serve basis. No TA/DA will be paid to the participant to attend the programme. Attendance in all sessions is mandatory to receive the participation certificate. Accommodation to the outstation participants will be arranged in the Tezpur University Guest House and Hostels subject to availability.
