About the Symposium ....
Optical Society of India (OSI) during last several decades has organized thirty
two OSI symposia at both national and international levels covering almost all
areas of optics. OSI annual symposia provide excellent platforms for all
optical researchers working in India as well as aboard. This year the XXXIII
OSI symposium will be held at the DEPTT. of
ELECTRONICS & COMMUNICATION ENGG., SCHOOL OF ENGINEERING, TEZPUR
UNIVERSITY, Tezpur. This symposium is to be held on 18-20th of December 2007
and the symposium includes invited talks, contributed papers, poster
presentation etc. We are also planning to award prizes for best poster
presentations for the research students who are below the age of 30 years.

Symposium, 2007
Optics and optoelectronics is the inter-disciplinary field that has wide-spread
applications in industrial instrumentation, high speed communication system,
biological system, mechanical and chemical industries etc. In recent years,
there has been sky rocketed growth in optics and optoelectronics, that involves
material science device technology, semiconductors, fiber optic components,
optical communication, optical sensors etc. In view of the growing importance
and futuristic potential for optics and optoelectronics systems, the following
topics have been included in the symposium:

SOUVENIR & PROCEEDINGS
A proceeding of the XXXIII OPTICAL SOCIETY OF INDIA (OSI) SYMPOSIUM will be
published by reputed publisher and a souvenir will also be published. This will
reach to almost all the optical researchers in India and abroad. So, optical
companies dealing with lasers, optics are welcome to give advertisement of
their respective products in souvenir. The rates are,

CALL FOR PAPERS
Faculties, researchers, graduate students from IITs, NITs, Universities and
various research organizations are invited to submit extended abstract (one
page)/full paper (maximum four pages double column, IEEE format) through
E-mail: osi@tezu.ernet.in or pps@tezu.ernet.in or pdeb@rediffmail.com
. Few selected papers presented at the symposium after peer reviewing may be
published in Journal of Optics. We are also planning to give best poster
award and best contributed paper award for the young scientists
below the age of 35. There will not be any extension of last date for receiving
abstracts so, prospective authors are advised to
strictly adhere to the dates.

ACCOMODATION
Limited number of accommodation at the University guest house (double bed) and
hostels may be provided on first come first basis at nominal charges. Transport
will be provided from the place of stay to the conf. venue. Hotel accommodation
is available in the charge range Rs.250 per day to Rs. 1,000 per day.
TUTORIAL
There will be a tutorial session on 17th Decembers, 2007 on advanced topics by
eminent speakers. The tutorial course fee will be Rs.500/- per participant.
