The Siva Dol is a cluster of three hindu temples Siva Dol, Vishnu Dol and the Devi Dol. Located next to the Sivsagar tank, the Siva Dol was built in 1734 by Ambika Kunwari, queen of Ahom king Swargadeo Siva Singha. It is believed to be the highest shiva temple in India with an height of 104 feet and a perimeter of 195 feet with an eight foot high golden dome at the top. The walls are sculptured with statues of Hindu Gods and Goddesses. The nearby temples like Vishnu Dol and Devi Dol are dedicated to Lord Vishnu and Goddess Durga respectively. |
