Hazara Pukhuri

 

It is located 5 kilometres west of Tezpur town next to the Tezpur Youth Hostel. Hazara Pukhuri was constructed by Harjjar Varma of the Varman Dynasty. He excavated a large pond in 70 acres of land in the 19th century. It is alo known as “Harjarra Pukhuri”. Its significance is that it is a popular ground for many sporting activities. A part of the pond is now used as a swimming club. It is also a natural amphitheatre used for entertainment, performance, sports, social events and functions like Bihu.
