Revised guidelines on Tezpur University studentship free studentship to meritorious students belonging to economically weak families
1. Objective:
The objective of this scheme is to provide free studentship to meritorious students from economically weak families to prevent financial hardship to pursue studies in this university.
2. Conditions:
i)
A. For PG Programmes: Students who have secured at least 60% of marks or equivalent grades in the qualifying degree examinations of TDC for Science and Commerce courses, at least 55% of marks or equivalent grade in humanities courses, at least 65% of marks or equivalent grade in Engineering/ Medical/ Agricultural and other allied courses will be eligible for consideration of the studentship.
B. For UG and Integrated M. Sc Programmes: Students who have secured at least 70% of marks or equivalent grades in 10+2 level examination will be eligible for consideration for the studentship.
ii) The studentship will be available only for the full-time students.
iii) Annual income of the family including father and mother must not exceed Rs.1,60,000/- from all sources of income.
iv) This studentship will be reviewed semester-wise on the basis of the performance in the previous semester.
v) An awardee will forfeit his/her studentship if he/she fails to qualify for promotion to successive semester or put under academic probation.
vi) The awardee must maintain at least 80% of attendance in his/her classes failing which he/she shall forfeit the studentship.
vii) The candidates selected for award of studentship will pursue only the courses of studies they are admitted to in this university. If an awardee is found to be absent from his/her classes for more than 15 days continuously on grounds other than medical and/or demises of kin, he/she will cease to continue the studentship.
viii) This studentship will be awarded for the period of minimum duration of studies of a programme.
ix) The selected students will not accept any other scholarship/ fellowship simultaneously during the tenure of the studentship.
x) Only one sibling will be considered for the studentship simultaneously.
xi) The studentship may be terminated by the authority at any time on the grounds of misconduct.
xii) Not withstanding clause (i) to (xi), the Vice-Chancellor shall have the authority to address any genuine financial problem a full-time regular student may have encountered with.
3. Value: Tuition fee for the programme of studies.
4. No. of studentship shall be limited to 1% of the newly admitted students in an academic year.
5. The awardees will be selected proportionately from the following categories
Category I - Under-Graduate and Integrated M.Sc Programmes
Category II – P.G. Programmes (Humanities and Social Sciences)
Category III – P.G. Programmes (Science and Management Sciences)
Category IV - MCA/M.Tech Programmes
